Use time to your advantage
We’ve been talking a lot about choices this month. Let’s face it – the world offers us so many choices. Our society is information-rich. Each of us is regularly bombarded with great ideas, strategies to try, new recipes, etc.,
At the same time, each of us is reminded of what we aren’t doing: maybe it is that we haven’t cut back on our kids’ sodium intake like we were supposed to, we haven’t reorganized our closets or clarified the kids’ chores.
Choice can feel overwhelming; making one want to raise the white flag of surrender and declare, “I’m done! Someone else gets to make the choices for a change!”
It is pretty easy to get carried away with everything that is going on, and to feel like there isn’t any time to make a choice.
At Parenting Power, we believe that there is always enough time.
This week, we encourage you to find 15 – 20 minutes for yourself. Once you’ve identified that block of time, use it to determine one new choice that you really want to make and the plan for it to happen.
What will it look like?
When will you make the first step?
What will your script be?
Who can help you?
Do you need to find someone else to tell so that you will be accountable?
Go easy on yourself – be realistic about what you can accomplish and when it will happen. Set yourself up for success. As a bonus, you’ll be modelling this process for your kids and that’s doing 2 things in the time it takes to do one.
There is always enough time.
