In 2017, we created #NoPhoneFamilyDay.Parents across Calgary took advantage of this movement and set an intention to leave the phones on the charger (for much of the day) and spent time together connecting, relaxing, exercising, sharing, playing and remembering the importance of family and what they were teaching their children.
#NoPhoneFamilyDay continues this year on Monday, February 19, 2018! We invite you to join us! Head over to our No Phone Family Day Facebook page and invite your friends as well. Our partners at the YMCA Calgary encourage you to plan to get active with your family at any YMCA in the city and leave your phones at home.
Just to be clear, this isn’t an all or nothing event. If your family members need to check their phones, make a plan that works for your family. Take part in a screen-free activity or plan a certain part of the day when you are connecting with your kids and they aren’t even wondering if you love your phone more than you love them!
Our theme for 2018 is Consistency. Doing something once is good, doing it consistently is better. To capture the feeling of connection with your family and take it even further, we’ve created the #30for30 Challenge
We would love to have you join us and share this idea with your family. We’ll be posting about it on social media all month. Check out this great video from our friend Dave Kelly and his family! Please share it with your friends and family.
